Home Remodeling Before & After Gallery

After about 2 years of home remodeling, I've decided to make a Before & After Photo Gallery to showcase all of our hard work. And as we finish the kitchen, laundry room, great room, and exterior later this year (or next...?) we'll add more pics. :)

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all our friends and family members who have spent hours and hours slaving away here to help us complete some of these projects. We've done our best to feed you good while you were here, but I know some of you have worked without food even (let alone pay!!)! Thank you especially to Patrick, Michelle, Rod, Phil, Jenny, Jessie, Shan, Jeanie (mom!), Emily, Brian, Seth, Nick, Justin, Alex, Brad, Jack, Jason, Amie, Kim, Ceo, Kirby, etc, etc. If I left you off the list, I'm so, so sorry. I will blame it on the pregnancy forgetfulness. Anyways, I know half of you will probably never read this cuz you're off slaving away on some other project...but your help has meant so much to us and when we get all done with this mess, remember, we owe you all one giant beef tenderloin party! :) ...That is, if we have any $$ left over after all the Lowe's runs to afford a beef tenderloin...haha...it might turn into a weinie roast by the time we finish!

Enjoy the photos :)

The Front Room - Before

The Front Room - After

We installed cherry laminate wood flooring, patched and patched and patched the walls, painted them Valspar "Tea Stain", painted all the trim white, installed a new front door, a new light fixture and knocked out the wall between this room and the kitchen. When the kitchen work begins, we will add a breakfast bar between the 2 rooms.

The Guest Bath - Before

The Guest Bath - After

We gutted the entire bathroom down to the studs with the help of David's brother Patrick. Then we re-drywalled, re-plumbed, installed a new bathtub, tiled a surround, tiled the floor, and installed a new toilet, sink, medicine cabinet, and light fixtures. This project was a huge learning experience.

The Office - Before

The Office - After

We basically just patched the walls a bunch and painted over the hideous blue ceiling. We painted the walls simply "Off-White" from Menards. We also had new carpet laid.

The Guest Room - Before

The Guest Room/Nursery - After

We said goodbye to the Victoria's Secret inspired pink striped paint theme and patched a lot of imperfections in the wall. We repainted with Valspar "Shoreline Haze" and got some new carpet laid in the room.

The Master Bedroom - Before

The Master Bedroom - After

We installed trim around the attic access door, since it was never there before, and reconfigured the master bath/closet layout. We ended up with a more spacious bathroom and a walk in closet, while losing some storage in the laundry room. We also installed a new ceiling light in this room with a light switch since there was never a light switch in this room before. We had new carpet laid in the room and also painted this room Valspar "Shoreline Haze".

The Master Bathroom and Closet - Before

(in case you're wondering, no one is smoking in this pic, it was just pretty dusty from all the demolition...)

This is a photo of the 30" square shower...where if you dropped a bar of soap, you had to get out to pick it up...and it's actually clean in this pic. When we tore it out, it was a nice orange color from the rust in our old water heater.

The Master Bath - After

I love the new spacious shower! And the luxurious marble tile!

The Furnace - Before

The Furnace - After

Our old heating oil burning furnace died in February so we had a new propane furnace installed. We are very pleased with the new system.

Since the furnace takes up less space and is less gross, I was able to add a little cleaning supply organizer to the inside of the furnace closet door. I love having all my cleaning supplies in one place!

Unfortunately, I don't have a before of the outdoor storage shed. Here it is last July after we "rebuilt" it. Since then, we have painted it. It is much more sturdy now.

We are still planning on remodeling our kitchen, laundry room and great room as well as re-roofing the house and the storage shed, doing some landscaping and re-painting our shutters.

David & his brother (mainly his brother) are building custom cherry cabinets for the kitchen and we are going to tile the countertops with 12" square granite tiles. The kitchen and laundry room will have 16" travertine tile floors. And the great room...it will get a LOT of drywall patching and painting....and possibly new carpet...

Everything looks great Katie! I love it! Can't wait to visit sometime and see it in person. And I'm really excited to see how the kitchen turns out. It sounds like it will be so pretty.
