changes with change

we always put our pocket change in jars on dave's dresser. the jars were getting full, so i just wrapped up a whole bunch of change to deposit in our savings account. $102!!

perhaps you're wondering why THIS is significant enough to write about on our blog....well, i'm just feeling pretty sentimental about the whole thing. a year and a half ago the jars would never have gotten full. it seemed like weeks went by where i would have to take change out to buy meals or gas. some of the most humiliating experiences of my life came when i had just enough money to buy $5 of gas and a cheeseburger for dinner from wendys with dimes...the gas station attendant asked if i was alright and the wendys person got really mad cuz they had to count some change.

it was hard to pay for everything on dave's unpredictable commission income while i was in school. and then he had the whole knee injury thing and the debt seemed to snowball. at this point, we're still digging ourselves out but i can see the light at the end of the tunnel. we're so much stronger after going through all of that together. sometimes we say life might have been easier had we listened to *gulp* mom....and waited to get married. but...nah :)
