A fun filled weekend at home with MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DISCLAIMER: Well, I had several pics to post with this text but Blogger is being dumb so read about our tree, etc. and imagine how good it looks :)

David had to work on Friday so I had the whole day to myself. I slept in then went to Walmart and got some Christmas decorations, including an angel for the top of our tree. We had lunch together in Carmel then I came back home & spent the afternoon listening to Christmas music, watching Christmas Vacation, scrapbooking and sipping Hazelnut Cream Cocoa. It was a wonderful time! I finished our scrapbook of our vacation to Savannah. :) It was kinda funny cuz neither one of us really wanted to preserve some of the pics cuz we were both a lot heavier then. But we decided it was part of our life and we should have that as evidence to remind ourselves not to overeat ever again....

Saturday we both had other plans but decided it was just so nice out that we needed to spend the entire day working on cleaning up outside instead. We raked & mulched the leaves, mowed the yard, cleaned out the gutters, began building a door for our "garage", and then about 5:00 we headed up to Dull's to get our Christmas tree. I have included a lovely picture of our front yard with no apparent leaves. For the first year ever we actually cleaned out our flower beds out front before winter set in. I guess cuz God gave us this wonderful weather to work at it in. :)

Sat. night we decorated the tree and I did a bit more scrapbooking.

We went to church today and spent some more time outside in the nice weather. I cleaned up around the house and did some laundry. We decided to go to China's Best for dinner. Before we left I smelled something funky in the laundry room. I asked Dave what it was...he didn't know. We went and had dinner and got back and I still smelled it only it was stronger. I asked him what it was. I opened the dryer that had been running and couldn't find the source. Then Dave came in and announced, "It smells electrical..." Hmmmm...so he started exploring. Discovered that the plug for the dryer was really hot. So he took it all apart and saw that two of the contacts were too far apart and that caused arc-ing (sp?) and produced a lot of heat and then that caused the insulation on some of the wires to melt and also the dryer plug had started to melt and that was what I was smelling. So he asked for his tech driver. I instantly started panicking and thinking he would electrocute himself or something. And then he got angry. And then I started trusting him. He fixed it so we could dry our last load of laundry but said we'll have to go to Lowes this week and buy a new plug. Right now we have vice grips attached to the wires. Makes me a bit nervous. But oh well. David is my hero. He really is such a genius. I don't know any other young men who would be able to diagnose such a thing. We'd be calling an electrician I'm sure if I were married to anyone else. I am just so thankful we didn't go farther away for dinner like we'd been planning earlier today or we might have had a house fire...? Praise the Lord and thanks Jesus for giving me a really smart husband!!
