Let me please begin by saying that none of this is human waste. In case any of you thought I was exaggerating about how gross our water was, here are some photos:

The white bowl is filled with water and silt that came out of the bottom of our filter cartridge last night.

The red bucket is water that came straight out of the tap.

The cylinder in the trash can is our filter. It was clogged. That is after about 7 weeks of use (and one night of nonstop garden hose use).
